<image:title>Blog - Project Wilderland - Apparently these objections were not that concerning to the Lord, who was now hounding me. As I reflected on the desires we have held for a long time around community, place, and formation, I came to understand something important - if accessibility is important for global workers, one place is not enough. Something in Texas is good, but we need other locations too.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Burnout Prevention Pt 1: Let Your Feelings Speak - Expanding Your Vocabulary</image:title>
<image:caption>Many of us are the equivalent of a toddler, or even an infant, when it comes to emotional maturity. A toddler has a limited vocabulary. Often, they are unable to express themselves fully and this can lead to misunderstanding and frustration. As they grow, they gain more words in their vocabulary and are therefore able to communicate more deeply and fully.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Burnout Prevention Pt 1: Let Your Feelings Speak - Having awareness about one’s feelings is like having a tool. Tools are important, but only if you know what to do with them. Knowing what a tool is called isn’t enough. Knowing what a tool can do isn’t enough. We need to know how to use them. Accurately and skilfully. The only way to do that is through training and practice.</image:title>
<image:caption>I realised recently that although I have a pretty good awareness of my emotions, and I was becoming adept at naming them accurately, I wasn’t letting them speak to me. I wasn’t letting them help me.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Burnout Prevention Pt 1: Let Your Feelings Speak</image:title>
<image:caption>Why does naming our feelings, and in particular the ones we find difficult or unacceptable, seem to be so difficult? Emotional awareness can be atrophied like an unused muscle. This can be because of traumas we have experienced, the ways our family of origin did (or didn’t do) emotions, cultural norms, and many other reasons.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Burning Out - When we were new homeowners, my dad gave me a toolbox with a bunch of tools. Some of them I knew how to use right away. Screwdriver? Of course. But the awl and the countersink drill bit and many more (of which I didn’t even know the names), I had no idea. They sat in the box. There were times I could have used some of those tools, if only I had known how!</image:title>

      <image:title>Blog - The #1 Risk Myth</image:title>
<image:caption>In Member Care we serve missionaries that work in areas that would not be considered “safe.” Many are living in high risk regions, war zones, places with a constant threat of physical danger, areas where gospel workers are unwelcome. And if it’s not political or religious dangers, they are faced with sporadic electricity and water availability, unsafe transportation and exposure to illness. They are witnesses and sometimes victims of violence, cruelty and corruption.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - The #1 Risk Myth</image:title>
<image:caption>Did you know that there are some common sentiments that are often quoted to missions workers that are unfounded myths? In the book Facing Danger: A Guide Through Risk, Dr Anna Hampton (a pseudonym to protect her cross-cultural missions work in high-risk areas) unveils no less than sixteen common “risk myths” that are often stated to gospel workers in high risk situations.</image:caption>

<image:caption>In missionary care, listening makes up about 80% of what we do. For the weary worker who is always giving, for the cross-cultural expat who seldom gets to speak in their heart language, for those going through grief and hardships far away from their friends and family, we come alongside and listen.</image:caption>
